MLD for Joint Replacement Recovery

Most of the time joint replacements are uncomplicated and the patient makes a speedy recovery. Occassionally excessive post-operative edema (swelling) and scar adhesions may hinder healing and cause discomfort and reduced range of motion. Lymphatic drainage  (MLD) and/or scar adhesion release techniques may help in promoting healing and getting people back to a normal activity level sooner. Not everyone who has a knee, hip or shoulder replacement needs MLD but if you are experiencing unusual or prolonged swelling after your procedure MLD and/or scar release techniques may be the key to getting you the full recovery you have been hoping for.
